IMG_6191Amir Rad is a certified personal trainer and entrepreneur of Thrive Martial Arts and Fitness in Ann Arbor. He obtained his national certification through the National Academy of SportsMedicine, and specializes in exercise programming, nutritional counseling, assisted stretching, and corrective exercise. He is most passionate about helping people, especially through personal training.

Amir obtained his certification as a corrective exercise specialist in 2008. Since then, he has enthusiastically coached his clients towards achieving their fitness goals.

Amir began his career as a personal trainer at Bally Total Fitness in 2008, and later obtained a management position at L.A. Fitness. Over the course of a five-year period, he honed his skills in personal training, management and sales. He made it a priority to help his clients set achievable goals, and educated them on the importance of strength training, cardiovascular health, flexibility and nutrition. During this time, he also placed special emphasis on using strength training and assisted stretching to resolve muscular imbalances in problem areas such as the rotator cuff, lower back, hips, knees and ankles.

New clients are required to complete a conditioning phase of training, where he focuses on improving their stability and flexibility. The following phases of training involve endurance and strength endurance, and progress accordingly to other phases, depending on the client’s personal goals. His personal training approach helps to set him apart from other trainers, and allows him to gradually and safely progress and coach his clients through the appropriate phases of training.

In November 2012, he opened his own health club, Thrive Martial Arts and Fitness. This facility primarily focuses on assisting clients through personal training, group classes, self-defense, and training in various types of martial arts.
